For an organization to grow and be relevant, it has to understand its audience. Conducting an interactor analysis was the first stage of understanding the audience of a local animal shelter’s website. This comprehensive breakdown of the target users enabled an examination of the website through an audience-focused lens.
This was a new concept—an “aha!” moment— where the importance of (and respect for) the audience was learned. With this perspective, it was evident which content worked and needed to be spotlighted. Likewise, it was apparent which elements needed improvement. This website analysis influenced and evolved all succeeding research to maintain focus on the audience and its needs.
