The design lifecycle of a product is nothing
short of intricate. Just as a human body can’t
function without vital organs, a product can’t
function (not well, anyway) without strategic design.
Mechanic Finder, an automotive repair price comparison app, was the focus of this strategy report. The strategy focused on five design planes: strategy, scope, structure, skeleton, and surface. Each plane's framework was outlined and details were provided on their respective elements. It was interesting to learn how each of the planes built on one another, but the exciting part was applying this knowledge to Mechanic Finder's design.
This was also my first experience using Illustrator. It was challenging to understand the plethora of tools, though, with time and persistence, low and high-fidelity wireframes were created to give Mechanic Finder a face.
Designing a product with this level of detail sharped my analytical skills and expanded the depth of my creativity.
